Galaxy Technical Services - Technical Services Engineer

We are recruiting an engineer to join our friendly and ambitious team, giving our customers ‘Confidence through Compliance’ by delivering market-leading technical services.

  • Galaxy North West (Haydock, WA11 9UX)
  • 37.5 hours per week (occasional travel may be required)
  • Competitive salary starting from £26,250 + benefits (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Galaxy Technical Services (GTS) is a supporting division of Galaxy Insulation & Dry-Lining Ltd, providing a wide range of technical services across specialist fields (thermal, acoustics, facades, fire protection and groundwork engineering) to achieve the clients brief, in return for the procurement of construction materials.

What can you expect? Part of your role will be to provide compliant and cost-considered solutions to Galaxy sales teams and customers – which can then be promptly delivered by our branch network. Furthermore you will need to perform a range of services from…

  • U-values
  • SAP residential energy assessments
  • Psi-value/thermal modelling
  • Part G Water efficiency calculations
  • Overheating calculations (Simplified method & TM59)

The Role: The role will require the candidate to develop to be able to carry out the following duties:

  • Working alongside the fellow engineers and our external Technical Service Managers, on multiple
    projects with a variety of clients and differing services/ objectives.
  • Undertake SAP energy assessments and U-value’s/ CRA calculations – you will be provided with
    the relevant training to become a qualified ‘On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor’
    (OCDEA).
  • Ensuring that technical work are completed accurately, promptly and within the citied timescales.
  • Speaking and advising confidently about; building systems, products, regulations and standards.
  • Communicating technically with stakeholders from across the industry.
  • Spotting opportunities to increase the basket of products and and/ or offer other technical
    services.
  • Keeping abreast of industry changes and innovations.
  • Contribute and have an input on the strategy of GTS and particularly continuous improvement
    processes.

Requirements: 

  • Qualifications – The ideal candidate is to have experience in the construction/ energy consultancy/ manufacturers industry &/or qualifications in the Built Environment (Engineering, Architecture or the Built Environment – Energy/Sustainability)

  • Strong organisational skills – time management and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Working collaboratively and effectively communicating with customers, colleagues and manufacturers.
