Course Overview

Elmhurst’s ABBE qualification course in Non-Domestic Energy Assessment is a fantastic opportunity for those completely new to the world of energy assessment, to become fully qualified to produce Energy Performance Certificates for commercial buildings.

You’ll learn how to use the Simplified Building Energy Modelling (SBEM) software to undertake energy calculations and produce commercial Energy Performance certificates for existing and new build Level 3 & 4 commercial buildings.

Course Delivery

This course is delivered in-person by industry experts with real, practical experience over a period of 5 days.

Our interactive, classroom based approach combines presentation slides, class discussions and live demonstrations (including a commercial building walkthrough) to provide an engaging in-person learning experience. This setting allows you to interact directly with the tutor and fellow delegates, ask questions, and receive first-hand support. You’ll also receive full technical and portfolio support throughout the duration of your course.

Eligibility

This course is suitable for those completely new to the energy assessment industry, with no previous experience required.

  • Professional Skills required to be a NDEA including: Legislation, Health & Safety, Policies and Procedures, Contracts and Risk Assessments
  • Methods of Construction for Buildings
  • Building Services Systems
  • Data Entry into the SBEM Software
  • Advisory Report and Recommendations
  • Developing a sound understanding of the Building Regulations and knowledge of thermal insulation products
  • Detailed calculation of U-values
  • Developing a more comprehensive understanding of Building Services
  • Producing a calculation from plans and a specification, then processing the data in the SBEM software

Following this course you will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence that meets the ABBE awarding body requirements. Once this has been completed you will be awarded with the ABBE Level 4 Diploma for Non-Domestic Energy Assessment, and will be eligible to join Elmhurst’s NDEA Accreditation scheme.

Once qualified as an NDEA you must join a government approved scheme to submit Energy Performance Certificates for commercial buildings. You can find out more about Elmhurst’s NDEA Accreditation Scheme here.
